gulp

I no longer have babies.
My littlest one turns twenty-one today.

A day to look back at old photos...
And to remember why I love her more than roses.

Time goes by too fast.

Happy birthday to your little one, and I hope the sweet outweighs the bitter in your nostalgia. Oh, how it tugs at your heart to see how they used to be! And mine are nowhere near 21, they're not that far from babyhood themselves, but I still know how you feel, a little.

on behalf of the little maiden -- thanks all. No Joan, not a single note of bitterness.

Brando, I'm not sure what to think about January 19th being your day as well. But hey, as I wrote on your blog -- you'll be second in line to get a special toast from me tonight. Other commenters will be third, fourth and fifth. A few more and I'll have to find a nice spot under the table, just like y'all who are celebrating this eve...

Dearest Nina,
They may be grown, but they will always be your babies.

Best wishes to your little one for her birthday and hugs for you.

Enjoy yourself!

(and then the comment brought the tune into my head--of course, I only truly know the two title words, as it was an instrumental for our band, with an awesome bari. sax part to bust through the rest.)

This version seems appropriate, perhaps.

Thanks for prompting the associations. Have a grand celebration!

Happy birthday, c!

Wow, is that a cute kid. I can't get my mind around the fact that my own little guy will be 21 someday. Come to think of it, I can't believe he's going to be three! Happy birthday to her.
